Associate Lead Risk Manager

Imagine a future where you actively contribute to managing and mitigating the market risks of our European renewable portfolio

Join us in this role where you’ll oversee and manage the market risks embedded in the renewable portfolio and origination activities. Together with your passionate colleagues, you’ll be a trusted 1st line risk manager who will be analyzing production and revenue data, complex non-linear payment structures from subsidies and power purchase agreements to understand the risk nature of our portfolio and origination contracts. You will be a driving force in setting limits and hedging requirements, to ensure that the financial performance and predictability is aligned with Ørsted’s risk appetite. Secondly, you will be ensuring that risk is correctly represented in our risk systems and reporting. You’ll play a key role together with your colleagues to evaluate and challenge the business on their hedging strategies to ensure they are risk mitigating and are in compliance with limits.

Welcome to Market Risk
You’ll be part of a Portfolio & Structured Risk team where you, together with your colleagues, will be responsible for 1st line risk management of the market risk related to Ørsted’s European portfolio. We work with a large set of stakeholders across the organization interacting with many different nationalities and backgrounds, focusing on being commercially oriented and staying curious, maintaining a professional atmosphere yet keeping an informal tone with room for fun and laughter.

It is also a team who will help you grow your talent through collaboration and knowledge sharing and our ambition to understand our stakeholder’s business to a degree that we can contribute to their understanding of their market risk and hedging strategies.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • Advising senior management on energy market risk by delivering insightful risk analysis
  • Ensuring high-quality data foundation and monitor, visualizing and communicating portfolio risk levels to senior management
  • Understanding the dynamics of our European asset portfolio, identifying risks related to activities and reporting on limit compliance
  • Creating and maintaining informal and trusting relationships with our broad base of stakeholders
  • Sharing your expertise and collaborating with others to drive innovative solutions.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • Possess a solid financial and/or mathematical background and are used to working with and extract insights from large amounts of data
  • Have relevant analytical experience within risk management, hedging instruments, or risk models
  • Are proficient in Excel and at least one of the following languages: SQL, Python, or VBA
  • Enjoy being challenged with new tasks and projects which are centered around solving business problems and ensuring the right incentives
  • Find it motivating to create results through teamwork and develop good relationships with your colleagues and stakeholders
  • Embrace working in a dynamic work environment, as Ørsted is currently undergoing significant changes.
