Ireland and UK Onshore GIS Manager

Imagine a future where you’re part of a team developing new organic onshore renewables opportunities in Ireland and the UK

Join us in this role where you’ll support the growth and development of the UK and Ireland renewables pipeline. You’ll play a key role in managing and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to implement a successful GIS platform, manage delivered services, contribute to the digitalisation of legacy data, and ensure compliance with corporate policies. Using your skills in spatial data sets as they relate to the renewables sector, you’ll also help develop and implement project assessment and site evaluation models.

Welcome to Project Development
You’ll be part of Project Development where you, together with your colleagues, will work primarily on-site origination and development, incl. onsite assessment, evaluation, and feasibility of UK pipeline greenfield projects, comprising onshore wind, solar, BESS, and other commercial technologies. We’re continuing our green transformation journey by diversifying our renewable energy portfolio, with an ambition to grow our global footprint in onshore renewable energy. As a team, we enjoy working together collaboratively to enhance existing processes and develop new procedures. You’ll work with incredibly talented and engaged colleagues who truly value feedback and welcome your insight and perspective.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • managing and maintaining the GIS applications, datasets, information, and internal file structures
  • creating and developing compliant maps and plans, as required for projects
  • providing GIS support, advice, and training to the onshore project development team
  • digitalising current practices, through process improvement, data capture, and management and development of new tools and software
  • developing and implementing new GIS strategies and methodology to complement and improve the delivery of the onshore development team’s targets and objectives
  • creating and managing market reports and establishing development trends.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • hold a relevant and recognised GIS degree or diploma and have extensive experience of Esri's ArcGIS products, incl. ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Pro and have experience in managing GIS projects, as well as developing and delivering GIS strategies and policies
  • have a drive to improve efficiency and develop innovative solutions, and engagement with broader geospatial and industry-specific trends
  • have a demonstrable track record of successfully managing and maintaining GIS datasets, databases, information, and compatible file structures, together with open-source datasets
  • have a proficient understanding of geoprocessing, georeferencing, spatial analysis, mapping, co-ordinate systems, and publishing
  • have experience managing and consulting with external consultants, agents, and data suppliers or managers, and can manage and prioritise a varied workload in a dynamic working environment.
  • are a GIS expert, with a deep understanding of the principles and concepts of the technology and how it can benefit businesses and organisations.
