Regulatory Affairs Lead, Oceans Policy

Join us in this role where you’ll support a team focused on working with policymakers and regulators to accelerate the deployment of responsibly sited offshore wind. You’ll also serve as a leader in developing and advancing solutions to oceans-related regulatory issues and raising the visibility of our organization in conversations at the federal level.

Welcome to Government Affairs and Market Strategy
You’ll be part of a dynamic Regulatory Affairs team where you, together with your colleagues, will be responsible for helping set and shape the organization’s regulatory and legislative agenda to advance the deployment of offshore wind in North America while ensuring species and habitat protection. You’ll manage the team’s agency engagement related to ocean conservation issues, which include development of feasible marine mammal, benthic habitat, endangered species protection measures, marine spatial planning, and scientific research. As a team, we collaborate, embrace complexity, and are invested in ensuring a world that runs on green energy.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • collaborating with our permitting, marine affairs, and biodiversity teams on emerging regulatory issues related to oceans
  • managing our responses (written, testimony, comments, etc.) to regulatory proceedings at NOAA Fisheries on issues with potential value implications for our current and future asset portfolio
  • preparing briefing materials and correspondence with agency leadership and staff
  • participating in industry working groups and trade association meetings related to agency advocacy, as well as representing us at conferences, roundtables, and events
  • establishing our organization as a thought leader on oceans policy and protected species issues, including coordination with the Public Affairs and Brand teams.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have a bachelor’s (or higher) degree in a related discipline and at least seven years working experience in government or non-government organizations, or offshore industry
  • have significant experience working directly with relevant federal regulatory agencies, particularly NOAA Fisheries
  • have a substantive background in regulatory affairs, focusing on issues concerning endangered species and/or marine mammals, and administrative procedure
  • have expertise in developing and advancing policy solutions and communicating complicated issues simply and succinctly
  • have the ability to work independently and with a wide range of stakeholder interests, and possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • have a professional track record as a team player and of adding value through collaborative work with colleagues.
